Chichén Itzá. Chichén Itzá, a small counter restaurant in a communal mercado south of downtown, is the most serious Yucatecan restaurant in town at the moment, its menu a living, habanero chile–intensive thesaurus of the panuchos and codzitos, sopa de lima and papadzules, banana-leaf tamales and shark casseroles that make up one of Mexico's most thrilling cuisines. From the delicious banana leaf–baked pork called cochinito pibil to the cinnamon-scented bread pudding called caballeros pobres, Chichén Itzá, named for the vast temple complex north of Cancún, is as fresh as a marketplace restaurant in Mérida. In Mercado La Paloma, 3655 S. Grand Ave., Los Angeles, (213) 741-1075. Breakfast, lunch and dinner Sun.–Wed. 8 a.m.–6:30 p.m., Thurs.–Sat. 8 a.m.–9 p.m. No alcohol. Takeout. Lot parking. AE, MC, V.
As World Cup Fever grips the nation, it seems a St George's Cross plastered onto any product you care to mention, from toilet seats to England hoodies for dogs (yes dogs!), allows the seller to add a nought to the price and several to the volume sold - but who owns the England 'brand'? .
A total of 10000 user-posted events, in just a years time, demonstrates EventSetter.com is a popular and effective site for the promotion of upcoming events. EventSetter.com continues to expect dramatic increases in the number of upcoming events posted at an ever-increasing rate to both the local city guides and the new Online Events section. This rapid increase in the number of published events indicates that EventSetter.com is becoming a more popular destination on the internet for promoting and finding local city events as well as online events. The recently added, Online Events section of EventSetter.com was not included in this count of events, as it is a separate section and has only contributed several event listings to the total number of events. Currently, the cities in North America carry the majority of event listings for EventSetter.com.
Instead of the familiar formula in which two states exist side by side, Israel and Palestine would be two states superimposed on one another. Citizens could freely choose which system to belong to - their citizenship would be bound not to territory, but to choice. The Israeli state would remain a homeland for Jews and, at the same time, become a place in which Palestinians were able to live freely. This basic administrative structure has worked elsewhere: for example, in the cantons of Switzerland. There people of different origins and beliefs, speaking different languages and with different allegiances, live together side by side. In the Israel-Palestine dual state, smaller territorial units could be given the right to choose which state to belong to, based on a majority vote. At the same time, individuals would be able to choose citizenship for themselves, regardless of where they lived.
It was a deadly 4th of July weekend on the highways in Hampton Roads. Two separate accidents in less than 24 hours claimed the lives of two people. 10 on Your Side spoke to a man who almost lost his life in one of those accidents. "I saw him run off the road before he ever got to me, and when he snatched it back on, he was coming at me head on," Lee Joyner recounts the scary moments he was driving his pickup truck down a very narrow Berlin-Dory Road in Southampton County. State Police say 48-year-old Primitivo Vallejos was driving the car speeding straight at Joyner. Vallejos swerved to miss Joyner, clipped the back of his truck and went airborne, slamming into a tree. It happened just after 5 p.m. Sunday. "Soon as mine stopped, I jumped out and ran as hard as I could down there.
The Assistant Chief Examiner of the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM), Stephen Mead, is to visit the Isle of Man on Thursday 6th July. The local group of Isle of Man Advanced Motorists have arranged for him to give a talk at the TT Hospitality Suite at 7.30pm which is open to everyone interested in driving or motorcycling. The Hospitality Suite is located in the Grandstand complex on Glencrutchery Road and there is ample parking nearby. Also, Isle of Man Police and Fire and Rescue Service vehicles are to be liveried with the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) logo. Although a similar association was established between the IAM and the North Wales Police last year, the Isle of Man is the first place where the IAM logo will be displayed by both the Police and Fire & Rescue Services. The association illustrates the mutual aim all three organisations to improve road safety by raising the standards of drivers and motorcyclists on the Island.
