On Tuesday, 27th June 2006 “Texas Tornado" Colin Edwards will once again be appearing at the Club Amadeus in Northallerton. The Camel Yamaha rider's visits to the North Yorkshire market town have become part of his build up to the British Grand Prix since he switched from World Superbikes where he was a double Champion. Colin will be joined by Australian Casey Stoner who is having a sensational first season in MotoGP after moving up from the 250cc GP class. Joining the two stars of MotoGP will be Stobart Honda British Superbike rider Michael Rutter who flies in from a family holiday to be there but one of the loudest cheers will be for TT Hero John McGuinness who just last week secured a hat-trick of wins in the Isle of Man and set a new lap record of nearly 130mph! Joining the racers on stage will be HRC's Sporting Manager Chris Herring, Eurosport's MotoGP commentator Julian Ryder and Sky's British Superbike presenter Keith Huewen.

At a Glance Weber County officials respond to mock earthquake emergency MARRIOTT-SLATERVILLE -- The city council and mayor convened an "emergency" meeting Tuesday morning to respond to a mock earthquake. While city and county leaders discussed how to respond to a 7.3-magnitude earthquake in Weber County, dozens of volunteer victims were outside the city offices with everything from fake bruises to fake disembowelments. Emergency responders used a Utah Transit Authority bus and several Army Humvees to take the wounded to the Army Reserve's 328th Combat Support Hospital, currently set up for training in Business Depot Ogden.
WIGTOWN, SCOTLAND - You'd drive right through the tiny place - in about a minute - if you didn't know what was there. Then again, you wouldn't be driving through in the first place, because there's arguably less beyond Wigtown than there is in it. But, oh, the charm you'd miss. Stick around for a while. Clearly something's afoot. Oh, look! A used book store. And then - huh? - another. And another... In a village of about 1,500 people, where the "downtown" is little more than two blocks, the streets are lined, almost literally, with old books. We'd heard about Wigtown from a friend. A BRITON who befriended the fashion designer Karen Millen faces extradition to France after he was accused of defrauding British expatriates out of £1.4 million. Graham Briggs, who also goes by the surname Templeton, will appear at Bow Street Magistrates Court in London today after allegedly exploiting a loophole in French banking laws to con wealthy retired people living in southwest France. The 51-year-old was apprehended last month on a European arrest warrant and issued by the French authorities. He faces eight charges of fraud in France. From 1999 to 2004 he is alleged to have persuaded expatriates in the Dordogne to invest in a fund backed by a respected French bank. It was during this time that he met Ms Millen. .
